effects of diclofenac and celecoxib on osteoclastogenesis during alveolar bone healing, in vivo

چکیده
background: osteoclastogenesis is coordinated by the interaction of members of the tumor necrosis factor (tnf) superfamily: receptor activator of nuclear factor-κb ligand (rankl) and osteoprotegerin (opg). the aim of this study was to compare the effect of two different types of non-steroidal anti-infl ammatory drugs (nsaids) on the rankl/opg balance during the healing of the alveolar process. materials and methods: this was an experimental study, carried on 45 male wistar rats (200 ± 25 g, 8-10 weeks old). after extraction of the right maxillary fi rst molar, 15 rats received 5 mg/kg/ day of diclofenac and 15 rats received 15 mg/kg/day of celecoxib and 15 rats received normal saline. the animals were sacrifi ced 7, 14 and 21 days after tooth extraction. the number of osteoclasts, opg and rankl messenger ribonucleic acid expression were determined by tartrate-resistant acid phosphate (trap) staining and polymerase chain reaction (pcr) respectively. the data were analyzed by one-way anova followed by tukey’s post-hoc test. values of p < 0.05 were considered signifi cant. results: on days 7, 14 and 21 the ratio of rankl/opg in the control group was higher than diclofenac and celecoxib groups. trap immunolabeling of the control group was more than diclofenac group on day 7 and was more than celecoxib group on day 14. on day 21, no signifi cant differences were noted among the three studied groups. conclusion: both drugs affect rankl/opg gene expression and also osteoclastogenesis in alveolar socket during the experimental period of 21 days. key words: non-steroidal anti-infl ammatory drugs, osteoclastogenesis, osteoprotegerin, receptor activator of nuclear factor-κb ligand, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase

Background: Due to the known disadvantages of autologous bone grafting, tissue engineering approaches have become an attractive method for ridge augmentation in dentistry. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study conducted to evaluate the potential therapeutic capacity of PRP-assisted hADSCs seeded on HA/TCP granules on regenerative healing response of canine alveolar surgical bone...

Bone fractures usually happen during car accident and sport trauma. Different factors influence bone healing such as malnutrition and smoking. Apart from addiction which is an important individual, social, and cultural problems morphine has several effects on body physiology and immune system .This study is performed to assess the effect of morphine dependency on bone healing and has not been r...
متن کاملProteomic analysis of gingival tissue and alveolar bone during alveolar bone healing.
Bone tissue regeneration is orchestrated by the surrounding supporting tissues and involves the build-up of osteogenic cells, which orchestrate remodeling/healing through the expression of numerous mediators and signaling molecules. Periodontal regeneration models have proven useful for studying the interaction and communication between alveolar bone and supporting soft tissue. We applied a qua...

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
Comparison of the Effects of Local Injection and Oral Intake of Diclofenac and Atorvastatin in Alveolar Bone Density Assessed with CT in Experimental Periodontitis in Rat
Objectives The first cause of tooth loss in developed countries is periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis is the most common form of periodontitis and it is characterized by loss of periodontal attachment, destruction of alveolar bone and eventual loss of teeth. Atorvastatin is a statin drug used for the treatment of high cholesterol. Statins can stop the inflammatory proc...
